Lickleyhead is a charming, “fairytale” castle dating back to the 15th century. It is a totally unspoilt example of the transformation of a chateau-fort into a chateau-mansion and set in 35 acres of forests and gardens in Aberdeenshire – 30 minutes from Aberdeen airport. The castle is a perfect blend of sophistication and intimacy for small and exclusive weddings.
This beautiful castle on rising ground overlooking the Gadie Burn (river) and sheltered by the northern flank of Bennachie Mountain has been a feature of the surrounding countryside for the past 500 years. Owned by the Leslie family, the castle has been sympathetically restored and features a new kitchen, long dining room, library, and a cosy main hall, where you can relax with a long drink, and read from the well stocked shelves.
From Lickleyhead head out into the surrounding countryside to the championship golf courses of Cruden Bay and Royal Dornoch no more than an hours’ drive away. You could also arrange a picnic on the beach, game or clay pigeon shooting, quad biking, horse riding or fishing in some of the most stunning scenery you will see in Scotland.
Lickleyhead is not usually available for smaller weddings but because of HCW’s long standing relationship with the Leslie’s the “Laird’s House” as it is locally known can be booked for you for your ceremony at a fraction of its usual cost.
