From the times of the ancient Picts (painted people) who are known to have inhabited this area as early as 5 000 BC there has been something magical about this area. Here, they worshipped masculinity, femininity and nature spirits, and the ghost of a green lady, believed to be the embodiment of nature herself, has been seen at the Castle. The castle was defended from the Vikings in the 9th century and the first stone chapel was consecrated here in the 12th century.

For a completely surreal sense of place in time marry atop the cliffs at Dunnottar Castle to the roar of the North Sea – and step into you new life from this “place of strength” – Dunnottar.
