Ardvreck Castle (C)

Ardvreck Castle is situated in one of the most romantic locations in Scotland perched on a rocky promontory jutting into Loch Assynt in the heart of the Highlands. The castle, which stands in the shadow of Quinag mountain dates back to the 15th century and is thought to have been built by the Clan MacLeod family who owned Assynt and the surrounding area in the 13th century.

During your time here you could stay in a beautiful Country Inn close to the castle from where you can explore the North West Highlands, or simply cuddle up in front of a blazing fire and listen to the wilderness. Enjoy some of the finest seafood Scotland has to offer – Ardvreck is 20 minutes from the picturesque fishing village of Ullapool. From Ullapool you could continue your Scottish adventure visiting the islands of the Outer Hebrides by daily ferry boat, or, if it’s history, legend and romance you’re after the area is abundant with cairns, brochs and mysterious Pictish relics. There are also harbour cruises across Loch Broom and the Summers Isles giving the opportunity to view the scenery and wildlife.

Despite its gorgeous, remote location Ardvreck is just an hour’s drive from Inverness airport making it a really convenient venue for couples travelling from abroad.
